Tanlines Privacy Policy

Tanlines ("we", "us", or "our") provides a mobile application that offers personalized tanning routines, UV index tracking, and skincare reminders. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share your information when you use our app, in accordance with Apple's App Store requirements.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of data, either directly from you or automatically through your device:

a. Personal Information You Provide

  • Skin type, tanning goals, and preferences
  • Optional photo uploads (for skin analysis, if enabled)
  • Email address (if account creation is supported)

b. Location Data

  • Approximate or precise location to display local UV index and personalize sun exposure routines
  • (Collected only with your explicit permission via system prompts)

c. Usage Data & Device Info

  • App interactions (e.g., which features you use)
  • Device model, operating system version
  • Crash logs and diagnostics (to improve app performance)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Personalize your tanning routines
  • Show accurate UV index and sun exposure recommendations
  • Remind you of skincare or reapplication steps
  • Improve app functionality and fix bugs
  • Send updates or promotional messages (only if you opt-in)

We do not use your data for tracking you across other apps and websites unless you explicitly grant permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt (if applicable).

We do not sell your personal data.

We only share information with trusted service providers who help us operate our app (e.g., analytics, hosting, crash reporting), and only as necessary. These partners are bound by confidentiality agreements and must follow strict data protection standards.

4. Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your personal data:

  • Withdraw location access: You can change your location permissions at any time in your device settings.
  • Delete your account and data: If your account contains personal data, you may delete your account from within the app. All associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
  • Access, correct, or delete your information: Contact us using the details below to make a request.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose it was collected for (e.g., providing app functionality), or as required by law. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days.

6. Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your data. While no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, we take steps to minimize risk including encrypted storage, access controls, and secure network protocols.

7. Children's Privacy

Tanlines is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from anyone under 13. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal data, we will delete it immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the app or by email. Your continued use of the app after such changes means you accept the updated policy.
